Pritam Lena Benjamin

Pritam Lena Benjamin has an M.A. in English from Allahabad University and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Calcutta; was awarded five gold medals for performance and top rank in English, Philosophy and Political Science.  Two gold medals followed, for her Master’s degree in English.

Over a 45 year teaching career, she has served as Vice Principal of Bangalore International School, and as founding Principal of National Academy for Learning(NAFL), Indus International School, Bangalore and Inventure Academy, Bangalore. Formerly a college lecturer, she first taught school at Sishya in Chennai and then La Martiniere for Girls in Kolkata. These were opportunities for her to observe and implement major paradigm shifts in education, in both international and national contexts.

Essentially a teacher of English and Social Studies, she believes that education includes far more than academics. Exploring the Arts as well as Sciences builds personalities that are whole and have the potential to bring out intellectual and moral talent.  A strong proponent of reclaiming the emphasis on humanities, to prepare children as agents for social and economic change, in their lives to come.
